The painting is a continuation of my watercolor series that combines plant with animal organisms.

Inspiration for the painting was born out of my own neighborhood in Seattle where bees and flowers collaborate to decorate our streets. As a result, I was able to observe a wide variety of bees interacting with different kinds of flora.

The idea of a bee transferring pollen wasn’t some much about moving pollen but rather the flower itself. This developed into the idea of a lone bee shepherding flowers across yards and garden spaces to help defend the beauty of the community.
