The painting has a great deal of importance to me. I created the piece for my best friend as a wedding gift. The subject matter was inspired by a trip to South Padre where we discovered an abandoned bus on the bay side of the island. We visited the bus around sunset to take photos, one of which had my friend sitting on the top of the bus.
I often revisited the memory because, like the wedding, it was a time of transition and change in both our lives. The sentiment of the painting was meant to highlight how as friends our lives drift, but the memories we have together become more beautiful and brighter when we take the time to step back and appreciate them.
