Calla Lily and Rhinoceros Beetle feature two of my favorite specimen of flower and insect. The dark background highlights the details of the pedals and intricacies of the beetle’s wings and shell. The elongated canvas is meant to extenuate the elongated stems of the lilies. This painting served as a foundation for future explorations into botanical subject matter.
